The impact resistant Kraton grip plastic molded handle is two-tone black and red, making the knife easy to locate should he drop it onto, say, the bottom of the boat or if he drops it on the trail. Included with the utility knife is a nicely serviceable plastic sheath, able to keep the knife from cutting him while it is not in use. As sharp as this baby is, that is a concern. He will want to be aware the razor sharp edge cuts and guts more than just a fish or small animal, but it will cut straight through people skin and small tree branches as well.
